On playtime

My favourite part of any visit? Playtime!
I make it a personal mission to figure out what games your cat will love most, and I carry a cat-sitting bag with many play options to all my visits. Sometimes I get an instant thumbs-up. Sometimes it takes a little experimenting — the right toy, the right movement, the right intensity, the right spot in the house, even the right time of day — but there is always something.
Playtime mimics hunting — and cats are built for it. Every single sense is wired to find, stalk, chase, pounce, catch, kill and (if possible) eat. So play isn’t just entertainment. It’s a need. It stimulates your cat’s body and brain in ways nothing else can. It wakes up that deep predator instinct. And even 10 seconds of true predator-mode engagement — even if it’s just locking onto a moving toy — can do wonders for your tiny plant pot panther.
So yes — I will absolutely spend time figuring out how to get those hunting juices flowing. Whether it’s a quick spark of excitement or a full-blown jungle session in your living room.
“My cat never plays?” Hold. My. Oatmilk. Chai. Latte.
I haven’t met a cat yet who doesn’t play. I’ve only met cats who haven’t been invited properly.
